Attendees Emsworth Market -21st June 2025

St Peter's Square, Emsworth, PO10 7AG

A Basing Bakes

, Basingstoke, Hampshire

A Basing Bakes was started in 2012 by Helen Lang who has a long history in the catering industry. Helen started as a school cook, then progressed to an agency chef and was later employed by a local golf club in their kitchen.  When Helen decided to set up her own baking business, the difficulty was deciding which route to go down.

To begin with, Helen was baking primarily regular goods made with wheat flour, but she started to get requests for gluten free products. As time progressed, she heard from several friends who had Coeliac disease; they said that they couldn’t find good quality gluten free products on the high street. After looking into this and indeed trying some of these GF goods, she decided to start producing her own GF products alongside the regular goods.

The demand for GF food was so high, that in 2015 she made the decision to produce solely GF goods, and made a second kitchen dedicated to gluten free baking.  She continued to sell to retail outlets until the end of 2017 and in 2018, A Basing Bakes joined Hampshire Farmer's Markets. Consequently, HFM is now the primary route to market for A Basing Bakes.

Cheese on The Wey Ltd

, Frensham, Surrey

John began the Cheese On The Wey journey in 2017. He has always had a passion for cheese and after discovering The Old Dairy at Pierrepont Farm, the idea that he could make a business out of this passion took root. He had the vision to turn the run-down old building into the basis for an artisan cheesemaking business using milk from the farm just 200 metres away.

John used his extensive knowledge in construction to complete the refurbishment of The Old Dairy and in the summer of 2020 was ready to open the doors and start selling cheese!

The ethos is local sourcing, local production, and local supply whilst minimising any effect on the environment. Whatever we do affects the environment and cheesemaking is no exception, but John uses his experience in sustainable construction to reduce water, materials, and energy use to the minimum both in the building work and in the cheesemaking process.

Hood Hampshire Honey

, Southampton, Hampshire

Hood Hampshire Honey has evolved around the excess produce given by the bees which Tracey Hood manages in her spare time as a hobby. Her passion for these wonderful insects and the produce they give has developed into a small business which ensures that she can continued to keep her bees healthy and productive.

All her 20 colonies are in Southern Hampshire mainly located in Chilworth, Bassett, North Baddesley and Shirley. The honey collected is individually extracted and not blended so that each jar of honey can be traced back to the location of the hive and when it was extracted. The beeswax obtained is used to make candles and cosmetics.

Local honey is the best and remember that every penny will go back into ensuring the bees are kept in well maintained equipment, given any necessary treatments against diseases and pests and food to ensure a healthy existence which in turn ensures that they continue to pollinate and keep the human race well fed.

More Information

Pothecary Gin

, Christchurch, Hampshire

Welcome to our ‘window box’ within Hampshire Farmers Market, where we endeavour to bring our art of crafting exceptional organic spirits to life. Discover who we are, what sets us apart, and the motivation and boundless passion that fuels our craft.

Our certified organic micro-distillery is situated on the Hampshire border in picturesque Christchurch. Artisan tradition permeates every step of our spirit-making process. Our flagship product, Pothecary Gin 'Original', is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence. It has gained international recognition, earning prestigious awards that highlight its exceptional quality and unique character.

Behind our creations is the founder and distiller Martin Jennings, a true foodie, who, having studied at catering college, has dedicated over 35 years to the food and drinks industry. We believe that Martin's commitment to creating premium spirits that are more intense, made with high quality organic ingredients and produced with respect for the environment shines through.

Within our micro-distillery, traditional copper pot stills take centre stage, being the foundation for our distinctive gins. But we don't stop there, our production method is not ‘London Dry’ but ‘British Blended’.  It is this very process that allows us to craft spirits that burst with the intense flavours and captivating aromas Martin envisioned. Each botanical is carefully distilled separately, capturing its unique character and unlocking its individual hidden depths. Then, like an alchemist blending precious elements, our distiller Martin artfully combines these distillates, adding pure New Forest Spring Water to achieve the desired alcohol volume and perfect balance of flavours. Our blended method of production yields optimum quality, incomparable aromas and flavours, and remarkable complexity.

Our passion for a handcrafted approach extends into our micro-distillery garden and beyond. We wild forage for some of our botanicals and are on a journey to achieve certified organic status for our micro-distillery garden, the smallest plot in the country, with the esteemed Biodynamic Association UK. We are a quarter of the way through our two-year conversion period. This commitment to sustainability and purity will enable us to hand grow and hand pick some of our own certified organic botanicals. It's a labour of love, rooted in a deep respect for the environment, and a desire to create high quality, organic, handcrafted drinks that celebrate artisan craft.

We are excited to share our craft with you and warmly invite you to experience the result of artisan distilling through our award-winning spirits, each one handcrafted with a commitment to creating exceptional quality organic spirits that are distinctively different, decidedly smooth, and deliciously moreish.
