FRESH, seasonal and local

Farm Raised Stamp

At Hampshire Farmers’ Markets, we believe there’s nothing better than buying directly from the people who grow, rear, bake and create your food.

Since 1999, our markets have been bringing together local farmers, growers, food producers and skilled artisan makers, creating vibrant community events across Hampshire. Every market offers the opportunity to discover fresh, seasonal produce, unique handmade goods and the stories behind the people who make them.

Whether you’re shopping for your weekly groceries, searching for a thoughtful gift, enjoying a coffee with friends or simply looking for a great day out, our markets offer a welcoming atmosphere where supporting local has never been easier.

Our producers are carefully selected to ensure their products are genuinely local, with food travelling fewer miles from field to fork. By shopping with Hampshire Farmers’ Markets, you’re supporting independent businesses, protecting rural livelihoods and helping to keep money within the local economy.

Where it began

On 16th May 1999, Hampshire Farmers’ Markets held its very first market on Middle Brook Street in Winchester, becoming one of the pioneers of the farmers’ market movement in the UK.

In 2002, Hampshire Farmers’ Markets became an independent not-for-profit organisation and achieved accreditation with FARMA (Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association), demonstrating our commitment to high standards, quality and authenticity. We continue to work to FARMA’s principles today.

For more than 27 years, Hampshire Farmers’ Markets has supported local farmers, growers, food producers and artisan makers by providing a trusted marketplace where they can sell directly to customers. Our members must meet strict criteria, ensuring they are based in Hampshire or within 30 miles of the county boundary, with food produced, reared, grown or created by the businesses that sell it.

Today, our markets continue to celebrate the very best of Hampshire, connecting communities with local producers while championing fresh, seasonal food, traditional skills and independent businesses.
