Over 25 Hampshire food producers will be welcoming customers from across the county to the farmers’ market in Southampton on Sunday, May 22nd, 10am to 2pm.
The market in Guildhall Square is set to bring lots of shoppers and supporters of local produce to the ‘Cultural Quarter’. Councillor Satvir Kaur, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Leisure at Southampton City Council said: “Everyone I have spoken to is a fan of Hampshire’s farmers’ markets and I’m thrilled it is coming to Southampton’s Guildhall Square so that many more people can take advantage of what it has to offer.
“With the new arts centre nearing completion together with the array of restaurants and cafes opening, Guildhall Square is the perfect setting to host this popular specialist market and we’re really hoping that residents and visitors will take the time to spend a leisurely Sunday exploring it’s delights.”
There will also be plenty of musical entertainment during the morning and into the afternoon (look out for updates on the line-up via @hantsfarmersmkt on Twitter). Greenfield Pork will also be serving-up their renowned hog roast on the day too. Alex Handford, Business Manager at Hampshire Farmers’ Markets, commented: “There is a definite air of excitement among us all at Hampshire Farmers’ Markets; it’s going to be a fun-filled four hours on the 22nd. We’re looking forward to coming back to Southampton each quarter of 2016. I’m confident this market is going to grow and grow.”
