Game Season
October is the start of the game season and we are delighted to have local producers New House Game from Fawley and Hampshire Game from Andover offering a range of fresh seasonal game at our markets. Pheasants, Partridge, Venison, Mallard Duck and more, together with various game sausages and smoked venison bacon.
Halloween
There will be a variety of special Halloween cakes this month from Becceries, Harvest View Brownies, A Basing Bakes and Butter Sugar, Flower all designed to satisfy your Halloween appetite.
Butter, Sugar, Flower will be adding the following delicious flavours to their Cup Cake range for Halloween – Caramel Pumpkin Spice, Spiced Maple Walnut, Salted Caramel.
Ringwood’s Halloween Farmers’ Market
Halloween will be celebrated at our Ringwood market on the 31st October. The Furlong Shops will be taking part in a competition to find the best pumpkin displayed in their shops, customers will be invited to judge during the preceding week. There will be a name the Pumpkin competition at our market with prizes.
New Product – Game Galette
At Petersfield market on the 4th October we will be welcoming back Catch Fabulous Fishcakes with their new Game Galette. Catchhave always been keen to work with game, as fish and game have historically been tradesman bed-fellowes.
They have developed a Game Galette for the game season. As big supporters of shooting conservation and wild food, just like their fish, they are always concerned that the birds are eaten and used responsibly from the sport. To this end, and in fitting with the tradition of fish and game, they have developed a ‘game cake’. As with their fishcakes it is coated in breadcrumbs ready to simply put into the oven. They are made with confit partridge, pheasant and theCatch secret touch which makes them rather yummy!!
Catch hope that the Game Galettes will encourage people that would not normally eat game to give them a try. Working with fellow local game suppliers to deliver a truly local, seasonal and innovative meal option for the autumn and winter game season.
They will be available for the first time at Petersfield & Romsey Farmers’ Markets on Sunday 4th October. Catch look forward to seeing you there.
