More InformationHood Hampshire Honey
, Southampton, Hampshire
, jamHood Hampshire Honey has evolved around the excess produce given by the bees which Tracey Hood manages in her spare time as a hobby. Her passion for these wonderful insects and the produce they give has developed into a small business which ensures that she can continued to keep her bees healthy and productive.
All her 20 colonies are in Southern Hampshire mainly located in Chilworth, Bassett, North Baddesley and Shirley. The honey collected is individually extracted and not blended so that each jar of honey can be traced back to the location of the hive and when it was extracted. The beeswax obtained is used to make candles and cosmetics.
Local honey is the best and remember that every penny will go back into ensuring the bees are kept in well maintained equipment, given any necessary treatments against diseases and pests and food to ensure a healthy existence which in turn ensures that they continue to pollinate and keep the human race well fed.

Vlad and Tania are originally from Bulgaria and came over here in 2008. They have been working at Hampshire Farmers' Markets since 2009, but under the banner of Secretts farm shop in Godalming. However, after nearly ten years of being Secretts’ main growers, they were approached by a farmer who offered them some land near Selbourne, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Initially they started off with asparagus, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, red currants, as well as various brassicas, such as purple sprouting broccoli, but soon found that they needed more land. Luckily for them, their old bosses, Secretts, had some land for sale with the added bonus of a huge glass house. This was a game changer for Vlad and Tania and enabled them to overcome their struggle with growing crops outside in the winter as now this fantastic new addition could house all of their spring vegetables, such as the radishes, spring onions, chard, cavolo nero and carrots.
