About Hampshire Farmers' Markets

page 1 | page 2 | page 3

Winchester Farmers’ Market is officially the largest Farmers' Market in the U.K. (95 stalls) and was voted the best in the country by the Guardian Food Magazine.

The use of town centre locations allows easy access to all the markets. The average number of producers attending a Hampshire Farmers Market is around 40 - 45. This large number of producers ensures that there is a huge range of produce to taste, try, and buy and helps us fulfill our attempt to provide a true shopping alternative to a supermarket, (however, we can’t provide cleaning stuffs and loo rolls!) whilst maintaining the strict criteria that all produce must come from Hampshire or within ten miles of the border.

Free range beef, lamb, pork and chicken, including rare breed meat, fresh fish and crabs from the Solent and fresh and smoked trout are on sale. For those wishing to try something out of the ordinary there is also ostrich and water buffalo meat! Seasonal fruit and vegetables are plentiful, organic produce is available alongside delicious freshly baked bread, free range eggs, lavender products and plants. There are even Hampshire coppice products and a walking stick maker at some markets!
