Fresh, Local, Fine Hampshire Food at Three Farmers' Markets This Weekend!

Shoppers will have the chance to visit three farmers' markets this weekend. Sunday 4th May in Petersfield, in the Market Square and also on Sunday, Basingstoke in the "top area of town" and on Bank Holiday Monday in the High Street, Hythe.

Seasonal treats will be available at all the farmers' markets including the chance to sample the first asparagus of the year. One of Britain's culinary delights, fresh Hampshire asparagus grown on the doorstep is delicious and wonderfully versatile. It is quick to prepare, easy to cook, and can be served as a starter or as a side dish, or will accompany cooked meat or fish or simply delicious with lashings of melted butter and a lightly poached egg. You will also find an exciting and diverse range of meats, oven ready game, freshly baked bread, cakes and delicious desserts, preserves and relishes, awarding winning cheeses including the popular parmesan style cheese, just wonderful with freshly made pasta and a range of sauces available, wines, ales and cider, a wonderful selection of seasonal fruit and vegetables, fresh and smoked fish.

At a Hampshire Farmers' Market all produce being sold must have been grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked, or processed within Hampshire or ten miles of the border.

The producer, or someone directly involved with the production, must sell the produce themselves and no bought in produce is allowed.
